Something about the cold weather makes me want a more flawless base. I've been going for the L'Oreal True Match Foundation - I have to ironically use a mix of C2 and C3 (C3 is really a lot darker than C2, though not quite as dark as the picture is showing). This is a fuller coverage and more matte than my dewy and light everyday grabs in warmer weather. To keep things from getting too matte, though, I like to apply a healthy layer of the L'Oreal Magic Lumi Light-Infusing Primer before applying the foundation. This injects so much life and brightness into my complexion, and it works perfectly to add in some glow to the otherwise matte foundation. I also like to use a bit of highlighter to add in some more glow just on the tops of my cheekbones and down my nose - theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer is one of my favorites. For my cheeks, I make a switch from peachy pinks to deeper berry tones. Clinique's Cheek Pop in Berry Pop is a perfect transition between the two - it's quite a bright pink, but with a berry undertone. For a deeper berry I like the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip & Cheek Creamy Oil in the shade Boundless Berry. I put a small amount on the back of my hand and then use a stippling brush to apply it to my cheeks. Since this contains argan oil, it's very moisturizing and nourishing on the skin.
Moving on to eyes, I tend to favor deeper and more rusty, bronzey colors. As I mentioned in my September Favorites, I've been loving the Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Chocolate Suede. This is a deep chocolate brown with some delicate red/rusty shimmer through it to warm it up. To add even more reds and warm browns to the look, I love using the shades Sable and Garnet from my Lorac Pro Palette (third from the right in top & bottom row). For a simpler look, I'm loving the Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner Crayon in Topaz applied near the lashline and then messily smudged out using the sponge tip on the end of the pencil. This is a lovely rust-brown shade. When using more red shades on your eyes it's important to apply a good helping of mascara to help define and avoid looking like you have pink-eye. I use my usual mascara for this (L'Oreal Miss Manga).
Last is lips, and as I went on and on about in my Berry Lips post, I adore berry-colored lip products. If I don't go for a berry, however, I still like a deeper neutral color than my usual MLBB's. A new addition that I've been donning almost every day is a MAC Lipstick in Creme in Your Coffee. This is a cremesheen formula, so it is so moisturizing and comfortable on the lips, yet still lasts quite a while. This would be a lovely nude lipstick on someone with darker skin, but on me it adds just enough color to not be a nude, but it's not particularly bold. It's quite brown-toned, but when swatched next to something truly brown, like MAC's Velvet Teddy, you can see that it actually has a lovely pink tone to it as well. This shade is also perfect over the MAC Lip Pencil in Whirl to make for a little darker and bolder lip.
